What are the advantages of Audio Books for the Blind

Technology has always enhanced and enriched our life. It has made everything very easy and convenient for us. We can say that this is only the primary goal of technology to improve our lives and make us free of the daily monotonous manual work by turning everything into digital.

We have experienced all the latest gadgets and gizmos and visualized the world in our hands. But we know how tough it becomes for the blind people in this world as they cannot even see the beauty of the nature or even experience having a cell phone in their hands with multiple features. They just cannot even see the TV or go to the movie theaters, work on computers, read newspapers and textbooks. Technological advancements like computers and Internet can help us a lot in means of viewing the latest information but what about the blind people? As we have heard of Braille method which helps the blind people to read and write but it does get so expensive and not so interesting.

But still technology has helped the visually impaired people also in its own way by providing Audio Books. Before we see how the Audio books have helped the blind people let us first see what is actually an Audio Book?
Audio Books mean the audio version of the book, a simply recording of verbal words but it is not actually a book.
They are the books which we can simply enjoy and learn by just listening to them and thus acted as the best source of learning for the blind people.
These books have the verbal words which are narrated by the professional narrators and actors. It has music built into it with lots of sound effects and thus it helps the blind people to hear stories and current news updates of their country.

Talking about the advantages of the Audio Books for the blind people is that:
Those blind people who had an interest in reading novels can now listen to it with interest and excitement.
Audio books come in the form of cassettes or CDs or DVDs which you all can easily get from the bookstore. But if you really need to use Internet then you can also download them which is really very inexpensive or sometimes even free. The downloadable audio books have made the life of blind people easy.
Apart from listening to stories or news the visually impaired can also learn vocabulary with pronunciation or learn other language with perfection.
It can be very helpful for the small kids who are blind by birth as they can listen to the bed time stories daily.

Thus we see how the Audio Books, a new hope for the blind by the technology, have enhanced their lives and given them the reason to live their life to the fullest.

7 Significant Reasons To Use Computers In Your Classroom

Technology is all around us so why the classrooms in the schools should be left behind. But why should we use the technology in classrooms? The reasons can be divers but there are certain reasons as to why we should. They are:
Every student has a different level of IQ than the other. Some may be fast learners and some may grasp the things slowly. Some may just memorize the whole lecture instead of understanding while some go into too much of details. Thus there is a wide gap between the students sitting in the same room and studying the same course. The use of technology can bridge the gap between them.
The boring lectures can be made interesting by the use of the technology in the classes. The absenteeism and the class bunks can be reduced.
Implementing the technology helps the students to explore the actual use of the studies they are taking in the rooms. They can visualize how the technology is actually implemented in the real world and how they can enhance their knowledge further, what they need to learn more and the likes.
The students can find more data regarding the topics that they are studying that may be impossible to gather form other sources, save the files and make their own notes in the classroom by browsing the net and searching the websites. This data collected and saved as notes saves time and the money of the students.
The assignments given to the students can be taken up as class presentations. This not only develops the presentation skills of the students but also makes the whole study interesting and simultaneously grooms the personality of the students.
Interact with number of students simultaneously. The technology also provides one to one interaction among the professors and the students such that the professor can pay individual attention to the students in the class rooms. The students can also interact with the other students in other colleges and share their views on different topics.
The technology can be used to provide a simulation environment where the students can be given the problems and an environment that is similar to the real conditions. Thus the students get an opportunity to actually act in the situation. This makes the whole thing interesting and the students participate, come up with new ideas and actually gain knowledge of how to implement the theory into practice.

Thus the use of technology not only improves the interaction among the students, but also develops the team spirit among them, helps in developing the personality and thus the very objective of the education of developing the individual.

Facts about the Solar System

We all know that our solar system consists of nine planets all of them revolving around the sun. But there are other interesting things which most of us don’t know. I discovered some while browsing through different websites. So, here I will share with you some interesting facts related to the fascinating system.
The gases and dust particles assembled billions of years ago and started the formation of solar system. They all assembled to form the sun and different planets.
The sun is one among the several stars that you see in the night sky. This is the star which lies close to our planet and hence we all feel the heat. There are 70,000, 000, 000, 000, 000, 000, 000 stars in the universe and sun is one of them.
The sun is surrounded by Mercury, Venus, and Earth. Then there is an asteroid belt after which Jupiter, Saturn, Neptune, Uranus and Pluto follow. The first three planets near the sun are the dense rocky planets while the other planets which lie after the asteroid belt are less dense gas planets. There are dwarf planets as well. These are Ceres lying in the asteroid belt, Pluto and finally the Eris located miles beyond Pluto.
Asteroids are the rocky planets that lie between the Jupiter and Mars orbit. These 90,000 asteroids are the remains of the solar system when it was formed.
Sun forms about 99% of the solar system. Besides planets and asteroids there are 172 moons of different planets, comets and dust.
Our earth is hit by about 10,000,000 kg of meteors everyday. So, lots of dust falls on our planet everyday.
The Saturn is one such planet in our solar system which will float on water if it is placed on it. That’s true! The planet is less dense than the water and if any such thing happens then it would be great to see.
Winds on Neptune are moving at the speed of 2000 km.
Mercury might be the nearest to the Sun but Venus is the hottest planet of our solar system.
Jupiter is the largest one. It is so large that it can hold around 1300 earth in itself.
Pluto takes 248 years to complete one orbit around the sun. It was discovered in 1930, so, we will celebrate its first orbit anniversary in 2178.
The red spot on Jupiter is the hurricane storm.
When Pluto is close to the sun its atmosphere is thin but when it is far away then its atmosphere freeze so that the collapse on the planet and Pluto resembles a comet.
The comets are lumps of ice which come from outer space into our solar system. When they come close to sun then the nucleus sublimates forming a cloud of dust and gas.

All these facts which listed here are just the tip of the iceberg. I suggest you to browse the websites and discover your universe yourself.

Importance of Simplicity in Technology

Technology is growing day by day and we are getting the latest products with the high-end specifications and features. The more the technology is advancing we are getting the many sophisticated gadgets and gizmos. They are very exciting to have in our hands but the main feature that should be seen in them is how simple they are! The design, appearance and fun factor are the preferred with the simplicity in mind.

Our lives though loaded with high technology that promises power and convenience, it leaves us fuming in frustration over jumbled software and hundred-page user manuals. So first and the foremost option is making the device very simple and user friendly. Technological success demands simplicity and it is the key factor which every brand company takes into consideration before devising any device.

The Beauty of Simplicity

1. Portability
The beauty of simplicity lies in the smaller and compact devices in the field of media and entertainment. As we can see the bulky CRT TV sets are replaced by the LCD or Plasma TVs. The music players in our homes have now become handy. Thus they are sleeker and smoother fulfilling our entertainment and our needs. The main thing we see that they are simple and anyone can handle them easily without the fear of being damage.

2. Size and budget
Other things that make the gadgets simple are compatibility and high storage facility. For example Xbox 360 is a high end specification and massive technical specifications. They are large, loud, and way too powerful for any game. They even require HD televisions, big sound equipment, wireless broadband internet access, and a dozen other things that not everyone can afford. So these things really make us think that are the simplest ones are Nintendo Wii which requires less support, less money, and less tech happy exploitation of finances. So budget is also the main simplicity factor.

3. Storage capacity
The basic reason behind the popularity of Nintendo Wii is 3D gaming and high storage capacity. With all these features the gadgets become simple to buy which are not very heavy on our pockets. Here the compatibility and high storage capacity speaks a lot.

4. Accessibility
The products have a user friendly interface, most attractive design, straightforward and stylish options that anyone can handle them. Thus the accessibility is also the main concern of simplicity in technology.

It is just to simplify the technology without sacrificing comfort and meaning. It is about subtracting the obvious and adding the meaningful. So if you want to add popularity to your product then it is necessary to add simplicity into it.

Generic Projection Lamp

Generic lamps are basically the similar in temperament or copy lamps but not manufactured by the OEM lamp manufacturing company. These lamps are made by the brands like Osram, DNGO and Arclite. A generis lamp costs less as compared to the OEM made lamps because of various reasons.
The very reason is that it involves inferior workmanship quality.
It includes lower manufacturing costs.
The lifespan of the product is poor and inconsistent.
It offers poor luminosity and premature inner failure.

There is lot of difference between OEM lamps and other generic lamps. The OEM manufactured lamps last 3 times even if you need to pay bit extra.
There are lots of risks associated with generic or ordinary lamps such as premature explosion and loss of lumens.
They are not as bright as the original manufacturer.
These generic lamps last only for about 6 months and 1 year. Thus for the cost-benefit options you should consider buying the OEM lamps.
An original lamp is made to work more efficiently and last longer. The lighting element inside a UHP lamp is built to resist consistent use ignition from the weight at 20,000 volts at a time. But the generic lamps are just made to work with original lamp drivers, not taking into consideration the life span or the weight of heavy volts.
In the OEM lamps the arc gap is typically 1 mm and the electrical arc must be aligned accordingly. But the generic lamps have a shorter life span and lose luminosity over time by imploding faster.
If you have the Philips VHS lamps then you do not have to worry about the defects and they are usually used in home theater lighting, digital projection lighting thus useful in saving power.
Most of the DLP and LCD projections systems use Philips as their OEM but here the generic projection lamps are not preferred.
Philips has worked in tandem with multiple television manufacturers to develop the best lamp drivers with the best lamps. Lamps must not only be compatible with the lamp driver, but work as one unit, something you won’t get with off-brands, or third-party manufacturers.
An OEM lamp will never fail prematurely, and will always be the best choice because it’s designed to be 100% compatible with your lamp driver, or ballast. But the same problems will appear in generic lamps.

Thus these generic projection lamps are not at all the preferred lamps because of their low quality and low luminosity, poor lifespan and premature implosions. These generic lamps though are inexpensive on your pocket but lack in quality. So it is always preferred to use the original, high quality made lamps from OEM or Philips brands.

Automatic Transmission Fluid

This is the red colored highly refined mineral oil that is used in the vehicles with automatic transmission. The use of automatic transmission fluid differs with different systems. It is used as a lubricant and as hydraulic fluid in different vehicles.

There are three types of automatic transmission fluids. These are Dexron, type F and ATF+. The user manual list the type of ATF used in the vehicle. The manufacturers sometime refer different types of ATF products for different types of vehicle usage.

Modern automatic transmission fluids are formed from a combination of different types of chemical compounds so as to develop a particular ATF specification. These compounds can be anti foam additives, detergents, anti wear additive anti oxidation compounds, high temperature thickeners, petroleum dye and cold flow improvers.

To optimize the performance of your vehicle and its components it is important to perform a routine checkup of the fluid in your vehicle. For this park your car on a level surface and start the engine.
Keep the engine running till it warms up.

To check the ATF in your car keep the engine running. But with some cars it is not required to run the engine while you perform the check up. Therefore consult the user manual before you start the process.

Now with the ATF dipstick check the level of the fluid. This dipstick is similar to the engine oil dipstick but somewhat smaller in size. But before you use it wipe it either with a rag or a cloth for the purpose. Push it in the engine and then remove it. Scan it carefully for two different marks.

One mark is for warm and the other is for cold. Note the mark for warm reading. Now if the automatic transmission fluid does not reach up to the full mark it means that you have to add the fluid to your vehicle.
This is the fluid which is not used up when you drive your vehicle. Therefore if there is low level of fluid then this means that there is some kind of leek. Check your vehicle. Don’t ignore the fault as it may lead to some transmission repairs.

Consult the user manual to find out the type of ATF recommended by the manufacturer for your car. Purchase it and add the fluid in the small hole from where you took out the dipstick. Add slowly.
Don’t overfill the fluid. Overfilling leads to automatic transmission failure. The correct way to add the fluid is to pour slowly using the funnel and checking it simultaneously with the dipstick.

Some new vehicles don’t come with the dipstick. If you own such vehicle then don’t experiment. Find an experienced mechanic to add the fluid to your vehicle.
